So you want to know the secret to big and happy, walk the red carpet hair? All the famous people swear by blow-outs to mold their perfect profiles. “They give you a nice completed look, star stylist Julie shares. “You can get so many looks from a blow-dry–simple curls, very straight, or even a extreme tight lock depending on what tools you use.”nnBegin your luxurious pampering routine with damp tresses. “Towel-dry your hair because if it’s too wet, you’re going to spend unneeded time and extra arm strain trying to blow-dry dripping-wet hair,” salon owner Karmen reveals.nnNext, start applying product–usually a volumizing mousse and a straightening product are top selections!–apply them throughout to prevent heat damage. “Whenever products are involved make sure they are evenly distributed,” Julie warns. “You can always add a little bit more, but you can never take it away if you use to much.”nnAfter tresses are set apart into sections, select a brush, but select it based on the desired result of your blow-out. “If your desire is a smooth style, a Denman brush is really perfect.” Kim continues, “If you use a round brush you will get more fullness and curl. While a vent brush will give an effect of smooth where the hair ends don’t tuck under.nnBeginning at the roots and slowly going outward with the brush, the hair should be dried in the same direction as the cuticle. “You want air to be going down towards the ground so you don’t destroy the cuticle but instead seal them,” says Amber. Adding a directional nozzle attachment to your blow dryer can help greatly. To make your hair curly, keep your hair in velcro rollers and blow dry them. You can also use duckbill clips in order to hold the curl.nnWe recommend for women with curly hair to use a diffuser attachment on their blow-dryer. “Start with your head upside down, and then lay the ends of your hair into the cup part of the diffuser and push up and down so it touches your head. The curls you will get from this technique will be beautiful!”nnContinue to dry hair until locks are bone-dry. “However, if you are diffusing, you can leave about 20% of the moisture in,” Denman notes. In order to combat the effects of heat styling, the hair pro also recommends regular hair maintenance. I believe you should do a good conditioning treatment once a week if you are an avid styler.
