Sometimes, even Elmo needs to be reminded that it's OK to fail.
In the video above, Elmo attends a classroom in which a teacher uses blocks to demonstrate how an engineer might build a bridge. Elmo tries to help but the bridge collapses. He is discouraged but the teacher and a student comfort him, saying he can still be an engineer even if he doesn't get it right at first.
The video was released to promote a new literacy curriculum for children ages 3 to 5 that "will integrate social emotional learning into early childhood literacy lessons," according to a press release. The curriculum is a partnership between
Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit behind
Sesame Street, the
Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, which utilizes technology to encourage global progress and which Chan co-founded with husband
Mark Zuckerberg, and
The Primary School, a California school Chan also co-founded.
