This museum was founded in the early 19th century as a museum of paintings and sculpture. Among the famous works on display at this museum is a painting created by Diego Velazquez in the mid-17th century. Owing to some of the greatest art collections housed in this museum, it has become one of the most visited sites in the world today.

Yet another attraction you must not miss during your time spent in Spain is the Great Mosque of Cordoba. It was a major mosque of Western Islam once and is among the world’s largest mosques in recent times. Also known as Mezquita, it is a shining example of Moorish architecture and is a great example of Islamic art and architecture in Western Europe. When this mosque was being constructed, the materials for building the structure were used from the Roman and Visigothic buildings. While getting around in the area surrounding this mosque, you’ll find yourself in a Moorish atmosphere with low whitewashed homes, winding streets, and small squares.
