Unlocking The Power of The Mind- Is there an easier way?

Science tells us that we currently use no more than 70% of our brain’s capabilities. Yet we struggle to cram our brains with content in this, the information age, where it seems to be particularly important to ‘know everything.’ Then too, along with the cramming comes the seemingly fantastical claims that we can ‘have it all’- including wealth, happiness, abundance, and breath-taking love- simply by making up our minds to it, and using our brains in a more productive fashion.rnrnI have come across a myriad of powerful mind changing tools. In the twelve steps of Alanon, AA, or OA for instance, there are wonderful books and slogans that hope to instill in people a new way of thinking. Then too, there are Louise Haye’s affirmations in the form of mini-books and daily reading cards. With these you can work everyday to replace the negative thoughts in your head with positive ones. There are meditations, yoga, and body-mind-spirit practices which seek to unlock the power of the mind by going within the body. All of these practices are very helpful.rnrnHow often have you gone to a party in this, the’ new age of enlightenment’ and heard someone talk about ‘mind over matter’ or a way to increase mental power. If you’re like me you nodded your head yes to the person across from you, while also thinking “Well, you can say it- but can you do it?” Or more to the point, you thought ‘But can I really do it.” And there may have been some frustration because you’d been working on that skill for a long time already. And if you’re like me, you were probably not acknowledging your successes- but only how far you seemed to be from your goals.rnrnThe Landmark Forum is a life-changing course that you can take if you want to get a good look at how the mind operates. In that course you will look at what it means to be human, and how your very ‘self’ is created at a young age. You will be able to then dissect the process to re-create aspects of yourself and cause yourself to be any way that you want to be. For instance if you are very shy- you can re-create yourself as outgoing. And do it naturally, with no struggle. One of the quintessential things you will do in this work is look at how the brain operates. You will find it often empowers you- but just as often does the opposite.rnrnThe mind is a very strange machine. It looks for and picks out oddities in your life. These are things that are not everyday occurrences- things like traumas, painful experiences, and scarring occurrences. It picks these out by the very nature of their oddity, and the mind then goes about the business of solving these ‘problems.’ Unfortunately the then gives a solution, which is a negative thought. This thought- one such as ‘don’t trust anyone’- then works against you in the future. And oftentimes you can’t even see these thoughts working in your brain.rnrnOne has to wonder if the mind truly can speak to the very cells in your body. One has to wonder if the claims people make about the mind’s power to cure all manner of diseases are really true. Can the mind cause you to lose weight effortlessly? Can you become a master at some unknown task overnight. Is it perhaps true that faith- your faith in your mind’s ability- can move mountains. If we believe, can we accomplish a miracle? And truly, this level of believing itself seems to be a miracle.rnrnIn the matter of ‘mind over matter’, I have recently uncovered a strong desire to skip over all of the hard work. I yearn to give up the daily reading of affirmations, and little bathroom books, and just have my brain work for me, instead of against me, as a matter of course. And this desire and wish has led me to the concept of “Brain Entrainment.” My fascination is this question. Can I actually retrain my brain to think in a more functional, empowering way- without even working at it? Can I even do this in my sleep. Many people say it is infinitely possible- and even probable- that this can happen, when given the right technique. I am experimenting with this method even now, and will let you know the outcome.rnrnBrain entrainment is one powerful tool to increase mental power and access the power of my mind. The other tool is to do it every day until it sinks in. This may well be the true test of training my brain. And one that many of us need to pass- no matter which methods we choose.
