In a truly competitive NFL domain, it is heartwarming to see players do something for the community. Honestly, there just have been so few instances of players being involved in community service. One of the latest instances that the mind could go to immediately is the event where couple of players from the New England Patriots team was honored at the Children’s Hospital Boston event. rnrnQuarterback Matt Cassel and Defensive linesman, Vince Wilfork were a part of the honoring event. They were honored for their outstanding service to the community and the hospital. “Champion Award” is an annual award that is given to athletes from Boston, who demonstrate and prove a lot of contribution to the society and its welfare. With all the good work done for the hospital, Matt and Vince both won the Champion Award in a glittering yet simple function.rnrnThough, it really is not fair to analyze the reasons behind this award, but it surely would benefit you if you know what made Matt and Vince top favorites to win this award. Both Matt and Vince had visited this hospital earlier this year, and made room-room visits with patients. Ask Vince and he would tell you that more than anything it is his life and events in the past that allows him to do such community welfare tasks. Definitely, both Matt and Vince, share the concerns of young kids, and visiting them in their hospital is a kind gesture indeed.rnrnOne may say that such instances are far and few between. Some critics who are out of their senses may also say that players do this to push up their popularity ratings up. In this case, one thing is for sure – Both these players did have nothing to do with popularity ratings. If some reports are to be believed, these players had asked the media not to cover this event, as they wished to keep this low-profile.rnrnIt truly was an NFL gathering at that with all the big names from New England Patriots assembling to celebrate the noble deeds of their teammates. President of the Team, Jonathan Krafft, Wesley Britt, an offensive tackler were also seen present at the event. You could see the camaraderie in the team when they were announced to collect their awards. But perhaps, the most touching moment of the evening came when both the players made their speeches.rnrnBoth Matt and Vince told the audience on how events in their personal life had led them to do community service. Anyone who would have listened to the speech would have said that it was only their noble intentions that led them to do this. In fact, Vince even went on to quote the example of his father. By the end of the speech, everyone present in the hall was moved, and of course, so were the children.rnrnOne may not be able to tell for sure on how Matt and Vince perform on the field. But with this act of humanity, they have gone a long way in establishing themselves in the hearts of the many children in the hospital. Matt and Vince, Way to go!!
