Round skirts cover less of the horse’s side.nnThe “seat” obviously is where the rider sits in the saddle.nnThe “cantle” is the back part of the saddle that is a little higher than the seat which holds the rider in the saddle from behind.nnThe “stirrups” on a horse saddle lay on either side of the horse and hold the rider’s feet.nnThe “billets” on a saddle are leather straps hanging from the sides used to attach the girth which holds the saddle on the horse.nnEnglish saddles only:nnThe “saddle *****” protect the horse and rider from friction between the rider’s leg and the horse’s side.nnWestern saddles only:nnThe “fenders” on a western saddle are similar to saddle ***** on an English saddle but are usually a more slender ***** of leather.nnThis will get you started with saddle knowledge. There are plenty of other parts to a saddle that you may be interested in examining. However, if you get the hang of these items, you will be educated enough to get your feet wet and start looking for and talking about saddles for sale.
