The fact is that lots of people these days wouldn’t leave the house without their personal digital assistant, or PDA. They have been so incorporated into our everyday lives, so much so that we feel incomplete without them. This is because we heavily rely on the many features packed into these gadgets that can aid in our business and personal dealings. Because of ever changing technology, today’s PDA device provides features beyond the imaginings of the original models.nnWhat will the next year or so bring in the way of new features in PDAs? Although there’s no certainty as to how they will turn out over the next year, the future looks bright for smartphones. It looks like this trend will continue through the coming year. A lot of people are beginning to realize the value and importance of connecting to the Internet via their mobile devices to check email or surf the net. There will also be a trend towards PDAs that play video clips like those found on YouTube.nnThe iPhone is one of the most renowned examples of a smartphone. More and more people want to be able to watch videos, listen to music and browse their photos on their PDA. And with the ever increasing popularity of social networking, these devices let people update their online profiles no matter where they happen to be. And third party applications should also gain in favor among users, if the demand today is any indication.nnSo what’s left for those who simply want to utilize the basic features of a PDA? There will still be devices for no-frills consumers who only need the calendar, the contact list, or other essential features of the non-connected personal digital assistant, but options will grow slimmer.nnSmartphones appeal to the consumer, of course, but the telecoms like them as well. This is because it provides them with more revenue-generating opportunities such as charging you for the phone plan, the bandwidth for video and audio downloads, and even on ads via mobile marketing.nnNevertheless, manufacturers will still produce PDAs equipped with only the essential and basic features. First of all, not everyone needs connectivity, and also not everyone can afford to buy a media device.nnActually, PDAs are moving towards more specialized abilities rather than trying to meet all needs. Some models are designed to be wholly dedicated to office and business functions, while others focus on connectivity or on media. This is great for everyone, no matter what our personal preferences or requirements, because it means there will be something for everyone.nnReally, PDAs look like they’ll continue to gain in popularity for the foreseeable future. New models might integrate media, entertainment and connectivity, but regardless a PDA will be almost an essential to help us function.
