Mississippi Valley Blues Festival

The Mississippi Valley Blues Society has the mission to educate the public on the native art of blues music. Through the performance, interpretation and preservation of the blues music they hope that the public will understand and appreciate the music. They are a non-profit organization that uses donation and volunteers for their activities. nnThe organization created an activity called the Blues Education program. This program is a four to nine weeks of blues music that is incorporated in the educational system. It is a set of 15 performers that will perform and have workshops at the school, library or the towns center. Their performance and workshop will be about the blues history and heritage.nnThis BlueSKool encourage children of all age range to learn and ask questions about the Blues Heritage so that they will also be encourage to carry on the tradition. Like their summer activity where the artist residencies provides a hands on experience with the kids. They will learn to work together to create blues music. Not only do they get to learn about the blues music but they get to listen about the experiences of the performers and at time might get the chance to share the stage.nnOne of the activity that the Mississippi Valley Blues Society that is very well known and popular is their annual Mississippi Valley Blues Festival. This is a three day festival that is held at the banks of the Mississippi River. Even the critics have been heard to say that it is one of the finest blues festivals in the country.nnThe Mississippi Valley Blues Society will have their 25th Anniversary Blues Festival on July 2 to July 4, 2009. For July 2 this will be the day that they will celebrate the first few artists of the first few years of the organization.
