Leveling A Druid in WoW – Talents and Gear

07.23.2009 · Posted in Computer Articles

Druids are the coolest class in WoW because of all the different niches you can fulfill. Druids can tank, heal, or do melee or spell damage. As a druid you can literally fill any class role you want. Even though that is true, when leveling, it is important to pick one path and stick to it if you want to gain experience quickly. Here are some basic pointers.nnTalentsnnSince Druids have so many options for talents and roles, figuring out your leveling spec can be a tough choice. Since you will mostly be doing solo quests to level, you will want to choose a build that focuses on damage, so that narrows it down to Feral or Balance. Feral and Balance both have great DPS, but I would recommend Feral just because it does not depend on mana. Feral builds also allow you to pick up another gear set and tank instances as a bear. If you’re more of the grouping type, Balance is a good option, since mana issues don’t crop up nearly as often in groups and you can also heal well with a Balance build.nnFeral GearnnPlaying a Feral druid, you will want to carry around 2 different gear sets, one for tanking in bear form, and one for questing in cat form. Your cat form gear will prioritize agility, strength, attack power, and critical strike rating in that exact order. Agility is your primary stat, as it affects how much damage you do with each attack, how often you get a critical strike, and how often you dodge. Strength and attack power increase your damage per attack, and critical strike rating, crazily enough, increases your critical strike rating.nnAs a bear, you’ll want tank gear to best perform your role in groups. Your first choice should be stamina, but also try to pick up a decent amount of armor, defense, agility, and dodge rating to boost your absorption and avoidance and take less damage. If your gear has good armor, some stamina, and one or two of the other stats listed, you should be in good shape as a tank.nnBalance GearnnBalance druids tend to focus on the same sort of gear as mages. You’ll be focusing on spell power as your primary stat, and a close second place is critical strike rating. Get some intelligence to expand your mana pool to a reasonable level so you don’t have to drink every fight, and pick up some mana regeneration if the opportunity presents itself.nnWith the info in this article, you’re now fully equipped to level your druid to 80. If you really want to fly through the levels, I would highly recommend checking out an in-game leveling guide by clicking through the link at the end of this article. I’ve done a review of what I consider to be the best druid leveling guide available, so if you’re interested in getting to level 80 faster and having more fun on the way, check it out.
