Healthcare Industry Uncovers $2 Trillion in Savings

A plan to lower healthcare costs by $2 trillion over the next decade has been proposed by the nation’s largest medical trade groups. They have jointly pledged to enact measures designed to lower overall costs.nnMajor medical trade groups are to meet in Washington with President Barack Obama to affirm their support for a plan which will reform healthcare in this country. Their privately developed plan will mirror the one currently being put forth by the government.nnThis is a huge step in progress toward health care reform according to a senior White House official. The action toward reducing costs is one of the biggest components within the reform package.nnTo change the healthcare industry this year some of the proposal is to start bundled payment for services along with more care coordination. This will start with the private associations and companies but the same plan is being studied for Medicare. nnA reduction in healthcare expenditures is being touted by these groups, a result of more efficient care. The beginning cost projects a savings of $2400 annually for a family of four, and within 10 years a national reduction of 3% for healthcare spending.
