10.30.2009 · Posted in Business News Article

The prequel to this article was one I wrote about starting your online business and how you need to start off slow. Being a hard charging professional you know you can do many things at the same time. Your marketing has gotten traction and leads are starting to come in and you have no time for them. The routine tasks for marketing and the need to talk to your leads increase the stress on you until you feel completely overwhelmed. It takes about three weeks for everything to peak. You can not do everything. You have to stop and look at your business and the tasks you are doing. Three things you need to do right now: find out what is working for you (getting leads), delegate all the tasks you can and eliminate all non-money related task.rnrnSince you can’t do all of it by yourself you need to concentrate on those aspects of your marketing plan that is working. You did not take my advice in earlier articles and stick to one or two marketing strategies. You are use to doing many things at once. Marketing is not instantaneous and needs time to develop day by day until it overpowers you. The extra time you have in the beginning will be the time you need to call your leads. If you fill it with the tasks you are doing for your marketing you will not call your leads. Calling your leads is the one thing that can guarantee success. Identify which marketing campaigns are working for you. Prioritize your list and work on only the top two strategies. We do not want to stop everything you are doing for the other strategies. This is where you can delegate those tasks to a personal or virtual assistant.rnrnDelegating to others in your previous life was the life blood of your firm. Delegating will be your most used skill in your business. You do not want to do it all yourself. Time to look into hiring a PA, Personal Assistant or a VA, Virtual Assistant. A VA may be a new term for you. A virtual Assistant (VA) is someone located anywhere in the world doing tasks for more than one person that only requires a phone connection. Procedures become very critical with a remote worker so take careful notes. After all the layoffs I had to do (including myself) in my own company, I prefer the VA option because you do not have someone in your office full time and you can stop at any time work gets slow. It is important to give a clear expectation of the work and outcome of the task that you give the person. Now you are leveraging your time to get more leads. This will certainly reduce your distractions.rnrnDistractions are everyplace and sometimes you do not even realize what they are; they disguise themselves as everyday tasks. Your top priority is calling your leads; if you have planned time for that anything that stops you from doing that is a distractions and needs to be removed. That is why you used your cold hard cash to get leads. You can’t tell if the person, who signed up on your mailing list, is serious unless you talk to them. You will hide behind your work for marketing. That is a big distraction and easy to justify. Your marketing and the daily task are important but first priority is growing your business and the cash flow is expanding your downline and that won’t happern without calls to leads. The previous two paragraphs talked about how to identify good marketing and delegate the rest. No one cares more about your business then you so do not delegate the task of talk to your downline to anyone but you.rnrnSo when you find yourself in overwhelm, stop and assess your marketing plan and results, delegate everything that takes your time from making calls and eliminate all other distraction over marketing, emails, phone calls. List the important and critical task so you can Timeblock your day. You want to make more money then you need to follow these simple techniques and keep focused on the prize.
