Chile: A Wonderland Of Nature At It’s Best

The country of Chile is filled with adventure and amazing attractions that will leave you breathless. This country, found on the west coast of South America, is wild and rugged and yet at the same time has a soft elegance that makes it a target for tourists everywhere.

Chile has on hand the best wonders of nature to offer to its visitors. Craggy mountains, deserted beaches, overgrown forests, and spouting geysers will fascinate you, especially if you love the wild and the woods. Nature is undisturbed at many parts of Chile, which will give a soothing feeling, far removed from the hustle and bustle of city life. The city of Santiago with five million people represents the urban side of Chile, which too is an interesting place to have fun if you are interested in the rustic urban landscapes.

The culture that can be found in Chile may amaze you, since many people think of Chile as one of the lesser known countries of South America. However, Chile has a strong European background, and this influence of Europe is what gives it a strong appeal to tourists from the west. There is a large Parisian feel to some parts of Santiago due to the educating of important Chileans for some many centuries. This French influence can be strongly seen in the art, architecture, and music of many parts of the country.

Chileans have great enthusiasm for arts and literature. Twice the Nobel price for literature has been won by Chileans through Gabriela Mistral and Pablo Neruda. Chileans also love music a lot. After the military coup in 1973, music has been the only medium of expression of feelings for the Chileans.

On your visit to Chile, don’t just limit yourself to spending time in Santiago. Besides Santiago, there are other cities that are lovely and thriving. Don’t forget to check out the nearby islands. One such island, Chiloe, is only thirty-one miles wide and 112 miles long, but is a beacon of incredible beauty. You can reach Chiloe via a ferry from the mainland. The island is home to several small villages and towns. The inhabitants of these villages build their homes on stilts due to the rain that falls in this area. Don’t forget to bring your camera. You’ll want pictures to remember the breathtaking site of volcanoes on the mainland that can be seen from this island paradise.

Another must see if you’re looking for adventure in Chile is the Torres del Paine National Park. This park can be found in southern Chile and is known as a biosphere park. You’ll be able to view waterfalls and glaciers, and wander through dense and mysterious forests.

For a befitting end to your busy day, select and relish from a variety of Chilean cuisine ranging from seafood, beef, fruits, and vegetables. “Empanadas”, is a well known snack food available on the streets of Chile and comes with a variety of fillings. Another snack food which is known to the westerns as the corn tamales is the “humitas”, which is very delicious and deserves a try.

Bread is a central part of the Chileans cuisine, so you will you’ll find a varied selection wherever you go. Potato bread is a particular favorite. One of most popular meals among Chileans is “lomo a lo pobre”. Lomo a lo pobre is made by placing two fried eggs on top of a large piece of beef and serving with chips. Tourist should definitely give lomo a lo pobre a try.
