This is the largest Turkish city on the coast of the Mediterranean and the biggest international sea resort in the country. During your time spent in Antalya, you’ll get the opportunity to visit some of the historic sites located around the Turkish coastal city.

Your cheap holidays to Antalya would give you the chance to explore Aspendos, which is visited by many of the history buffs holidaying in the city. It is an archaeological site located at a distance of about 47 kilometres east of the city and comprises ruins of the ancient Greco-Roman city. The most intriguing attraction of this site is an ancient Roman theatre, which is believed to be the best-preserved in the world. It has been fully restored in recent times and can accommodate 15,000 individuals. Most of these ruins are believed to have been built between the 2nd and 3rd centuries when the city of Aspendos was at its peak of glory.

Another interesting ancient site worth visiting is Termessos, which was an ancient Pisidian city and is now a well-preserved historic site. Located at a distance of about 34 kilometres from Antalya, it was built at an altitude of over 1,000 metres on the Taurus Mountains. The city enjoyed great prosperity when it was under the Greeks and Romans. Although these ruins have not been well-preserved as compared to the other ancient sites in the province of Antalya, they do attract quite a few history buffs.

Phaselis was an old Lycian city, set up in 700 BC by the Rhodians. In the years that followed, it became an important port city and centre of trade between Greece, Egypt, Phoenicia, and Asia. While exploring this site, you’ll also come across an on-site museum that displays the excavated finds. This place is located about 60 kilometres south-west of Antalya city.
