If an individual loves to participate in culture, tradition, and fun, then going to events in Florence Italy at any time of year will be an enjoyable experience. This city is full of people who love life, love parades, and love a good festival. When one visits this city they are enchanted by the beauty and history that is revealed and amazed with the fun and adventure that can be had.nnJanuary begins with parties, parades, and fireworks on New Year’s Eve followed by Fashion Show week which lasts through to the end of the month. A person can participate from the beginning of the year and enjoy the shows brought by fashion designers from all over the world.nnFebruary brings Italy’s largest carnival which lasts throughout the month. This carnival includes street festivals, dancing, street acrobats, and festivities throughout the city. A person can spend time in the plaza with the actors and performers and talk about the history and tradition of the carnival in Italy.nnIn April there are regular festivals and parades surrounding religious holidays. The Scoppio del Carro (Explosion of the Cart) begins this beautiful season with fireworks which are lit by a dove that descends from the local cathedral on a wire. This is followed by food, festivities, and fun.nnIn May, the Festa del Grillo/Cricket Festival is held and crickets in woven cages are released by their owners for good luck. This festival includes parades, food, wine, and dancing. Through the rest of May and early June the Maggio Musicale is held celebrating the city’s major arts festival. This event in Florence Italy include concerts, dancing, outdoor theatre, and ballet performances.nnAlso in June one can participate in the Calcio in Costume/Football in Costume which is held in the Piazza di Santa Croce. There are parades, parties, food, wine, and a game that combines football and rugby is played by regional champions. The Estate Fiesolana/Fiesole Summer held right after this festival celebrates music, arts, drama, dance and film.nnJuly through December sees many international travelers coming to participate in some of the events in Florence Italy. There is an international bicycle race, festivals, parades, and other events that keep the city abuzz with activity.nnA medieval-style joust follows a parade that reveals participants wearing period costumes. The Giostra Del Saraceno ends with a festival at the Piazza Grande.
