Whatever enticements bring you to the great land of Texas, I can guarantee you one thing, the food is what will keep you there. The South has perfected their own unique standard of cuisine, and the Lone Star State is saturated with it. The delicacies and delights found here are quite lacking anywhere else in the world. nn How do you spell fun in the South — BBQ. Anywhere you go, from the big city to the smallest country community, you will find a barbecue establishment of some kind. Undoubtedly also, each will be labeled as the self proclaimed “Best Barbecue in Texas!” The atmosphere may slightly vary, but you can expect brushed steel and wood decor, a hickory smoked aroma, and lively country music. nn The sole purpose of the visit, however, being the food, is quite varying from pork, beef, and chicken drenched in the most savory of barbecue flavors. If you prefer a kick of spicy, sweetness of honey glaze, or classic hickory savor, all meats and sauces are accounted for in any choice of location for your barbecue experience. I was surprised to find when I moved to Texas, that even the most elegant of occasions and events are centered around a banquet of barbecue. nn Barbecue can only have success due to one of Texas’ most precious assets, beef. It is a common scene driving through the state to find miles of unending herds of appealing livestock. These acres of land can boast to produce the most delicious animals in the country. nn Even if you don’t prefer barbecued animals, nothing beats the tenderness of a melting juicy steak in your mouth. Texas steakhouses also sufficiently dot the state. May I suggest a medium grilled sirloin wherever you choose to go, for the perfect tenderness and sufficient doneness that constitutes a perfect dinner delight. nn Texas also has a lucky connection so close to the border which has given birth to a fascinating genre of food that only exists here as TexMex. The further south you travel, perhaps to San Antonio at least, the hispanic culture has authentically romanticized the food here. Warm tortillas, fresh salsa, and explosive flavors lull us away in this perfect union of Mexican style food made by the Texan grown culture.nn All the acres of land that makes Texas proud gives fruit to unending varieties of succulent produce. Undoubtedly my favorite is, the peach. You can’t find a better peach cobbler than in the South, for good reason. nn Texas’ humid climate serves as the perfect breeding ground for peaches to thrive. In order to satisfy our yearly craving for peaches, we’ve planted our very own tree in our backyard. The whole neighborhood in fact salivates this time of year just at the sight of our family bringing over paper bags full of peaches.nn Texas land and climate cannot always be described as unbearable. They bring forth the produce of the most enjoyable eating. The livestock, fruits, and vegetables, have a happy home grown here in Texas. All Texans should be proud to share with any traveller our unique culinary creations with substantial delight.
