Women Fitness Training

By: Mel Joelle

Fitness training will usually include several types of exercise that will work together to improve different parts of the body and their functions. Cardiovascular workouts, strength training, and flexibility exercises are all important ways to get the most out of your fitness routine. Depending on what you desire out of your fitness routine, you may focus more on one aspect than the other. Fitness training is especially important for women in preventing disease and improving emotional and mental health. It is important to realize all the benefits of exercise so that you don’t give up when the routine starts getting hard.

Cardiovascular workouts focus on moving your entire body, using large muscle to make your heart and lungs work harder. Cardiovascular exercise benefits include a stronger heart and lungs, increased bone density, weight lose, and increased energy. It is so important for women to care for their heart and bones because of their risk for heart disease and osteoporosis. Types of cardiovascular workouts include walking, jogging, water aerobics, kickboxing, dance, and cycling. In order to get the most benefit from cardiovascular exercises, you need to workout at your target heart rate for at least 30 minutes a day, five days a week.

Strength training involves using weights to increase the strength in the muscles. Strength training is so important for the health of bones and muscles. As women age, bones begin to lose density and joints become less stable, often leading to broken bones or torn muscles or ligaments. Strengthening muscles helps to stabilize and reinforce the bones and joints to combat the effects of aging.

Flexibility exercises are important before and after workouts to prevent soreness and minor injuries. Stretching increases range of motion which will be important during and after your workout. It is important not to push yourself too far while stretching. It should be a slow fluid movement in which you feel the muscle pull and become tight. Stretching can also be a very relaxing end to an intense workout.

It’s always important to consult a physician before starting any new exercise program. It is also wise to visit a local gym to speak with a personal trainer or fitness expert to decide on the right combination of cardiovascular, strength, and flexibility exercises for you. Depending on what you hope to achieve through fitness training, a trainer can help you build the perfect plan to get you there faster. A trainer can also help you track your progress as you continue your fitness plan. Seeing the progress that you have made is one of the best ways to motivate yourself to keep it up. Another way to maximize your workout is to find a workout buddy, someone who you can work out with, that will help to keep the workout from becoming boring and provide motivation in case you start to slack off.
