By: Cromuel Hoverson

Cala d'Or is resort town that has developed over time around a fishing village. Located on the east coast of the island of Majorca, the villas in Cala d'Or are excellent resort accommodations. Cala d'Or can be quite lively for holidaymakers, although not nearly as much as the larger resorts found in other parts of Majorca. The villas in Cala d'Or are traditionally Mediterranean in style, built on one level. There are very few tall buildings, as the resort town's growth is controlled.
The town centre is a pedestrian zone, and one of the liveliest areas in the resort. There are many restaurants and bars, along with a good selection of shops to browse. The numerous hotels also offer dining and bar facilities. The restaurants offer fine international cuisine selections. Villas in Cala d'Or can be found both in town, or if you prefer quieter accommodations on the outskirts of town.
The large marina in the cove named Cala Llonga is also a popular tourist attraction. The marina accommodates large yachts and charter vessels. There are numerous restaurants and bars convenient to the marina, and nearby rental villas in Cala d'Or. The mini train is available to transport you to any part of the resort. This is particularly advantageous in the marina area because it neatly divides the town in half.
Villas in Cala d'Or allow access to several small beaches, the largest of which is Cala Gran. Cala d'Or beach is usually quite crowded, but there are several other small coves within walking distance of the villas in Cala d'Or. Both of these beaches offer pedaloes, sun loungers and parasols for hire. If these small beaches are too crowded, a bus ride to Es Trenc will net you a visit to a huge beautiful beach for the day. Be aware that some of the beaches, including Es Trenc, are popular spots for nude sun bathing and nude swimming.
Many people who rent villas in Cala d'Or take advantage of the local bus transportation or hire cars to go to Felanitx on Sunday morning for the weekly market. It has a reputation for being the best in Majorca. There are also markets on Wednesday and Saturday in the nearby town of Santanyi, which many of the visitors staying in villas in Cala d'Or take advantage of. Five minutes away, by car, from your villa in Cala d'Or, is the quaint fishing village of Porto Pedro, which is well worth a visit during your stay.
What you will not find when renting villas in Cala d'Or is the usual resort entertainment such as mini golf or water parks. The resort is also a difficult 40 miles from Palma and the airport, with a taxi being the main form of transport to and from. However, the adventurous can hire a car and drive. Villas in Cala d'Or are extremely popular with couples and families who have small children. When you are shopping for your villa to rent in Cala d'Or you'll find plenty of great options - enabling you to keep the kitchen of your villa well-stocked.
