Melbourne is the capital of the state of Victoria, which is located in south-eastern Australia. It is a popular tourist destination, and it attracts millions of visitors from all over the world. Often referred to as the 'Garden City' it boasts a number of attractions, stunning scenery and beautiful beaches. With so much to see and do in the city, it can be hard to know where to start. Queen Victoria Market

Queen Victoria Market is a lovely place to explore for several hours. The market is filled to the brim with delicious local fresh produce, including vegetables and fruits, spices, nuts and fish. Approximately half of the market is filled with fresh goods, while the other half is filled with books, electronics, DVDs, CDs and clothes. Queen Victoria Market is located on Elizabeth Street, and it is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays Saturdays and Sundays. Melbourne Botanic Gardens

The beautiful Melbourne Botanic Gardens are spread across 38 hectares of landscaped grounds. It is home to over 10,000 native and non-native species of plants and flowers. These gardens are famous for being one of the most scenic botanic gardens in Australia. It provides the perfect place to relax, or to enjoy a picnic with friends and family. The gardens are open from 7:30am to sunset every day of the year, and entry is free of charge.

Federation Square

Federation square is a prominent meeting place, which is located opposite of Flinders Street Station. It is home to numerous museums and galleries, and special events such as festivals and exhibitions are held in the square throughout the year. The square is also the perfect place to enjoy a hot beverage in a cafe, while soaking up the lively atmosphere of the area.

Melbourne Zoo

Melbourne Zoo provides a fun day out for all of the family. With over 320 species of wildlife from all corners of the globe, you can easily spend an entire day exploring all that the zoo has to offer. The zoo also has a special underwater world which is home to penguins, seals and much more. The zoo is located within Royal Park, just a few minutes drive north of the city centre. Tram 55 also stops directly outside of the zoo's entrance. Melbourne Zoo is open all year round from 9am to 5pm, with special extended opening hours during some of the summer months.

Crown Entertainment Complex

Crown entertainment complex is always a lively and fun place to visit. The complex features a range of entertainment and attractions, including live bands, a casino, restaurants, retail shops and a hotel. It is located along the banks of the Yarra River, and it is open all hours and all year round, apart from on Christmas day, Good Friday and Anzac day.
