Hydrate Your Way To Better Skin

As the skin ages, it begins to feel more dry and thin than it did in its younger days. And unfortunately, dry and thin skin is more prone to sagging than its hydrated and youthful counterpart. Before you book an appointment with your local plastic surgeon for a little nipping and tucking, consider this: you can get the effect of a facelift without surgery, simply by keeping your skin hydrated and plumped. Here’s how to see a dramatic wrinkle reduction, all with just a little help from some H2O and anti aging face creams.

Drink plenty of water. At minimum, drink eight glasses per day, for glowing skin. However, if you don’t particularly like the taste of water, you can improve its flavor by chopping up fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs or berries and muddling them in the water to give it a bit of flavor (and increase its antioxidant content for better wrinkle reduction!). Or, you can use any of the available artificial water flavorings that you can find in the supermarket to give your drink a little more oomph. If dressed-up tap still isn’t your thing, try to increase the amount of fresh fruits and vegetables you eat, since produce like cucumbers, melons and strawberries have a high water content on their own.

Use moisturizing face creams morning and night. These are the times you should be washing your face, and many facial cleansers strip your skin of its natural oils. That’s why you should be applying anti aging face creams immediately after cleansing and drying your face. This ensures that your skin doesn’t dry out and doesn’t feel tight. If you have extremely dry skin, use heavier anti wrinkle skin creams before hitting the hay so it has time to absorb, so it can better repair itself while you sleep. Night is the best time for heavier products because you won’t be interfering with its natural processes by applying powders and makeups that absorb the cream.

Help creams absorb. Many water-based products evaporate off your skin before they’ve completely absorbed, which means you’re not getting the most out of your products. Help lock in the hydration by applying anti wrinkle skin creams on your hands and feet in the evening, and then put on thick socks or lotion gloves so the creams will stay put as you snooze.

Give your eyes a lift. Find your best eye cream for anti aging and apply it under your eyes, in the inner and outer corners, and on your eyelids. Repeat every night before bed. This firms the skin around your eyes, which makes it appear lifted; the hydration also helps to fill in fine lines.
