The design of the swimming pool design is probably the most important aspect of the entire process of swimming pool building. Simply put, how can one build a pool if there is no design to begin with?

Nowadays, there are a lot of swimming pool designs that have different colors and shapes. The rich ones even have their pools fully customized according to their preferences.

Of course, everyone has his own basis for the design of the above ground swimming pool. The first thing to take into account when choosing a pool design is the pool’s purpose.

Do you want a pool for training purposes or for exercises? Are you having a pool for the enjoyment of the kids? Or maybe you want to entertain the neighbors and guests?

The purpose of the pool is the most important factor to consider when making a design. The design should be in line with your intended use for the pool.

Moreover, the design helps people recognize what the function of the pool is. In this article, some of the uses of pools and the designs that go well along with it will be discussed.

Uses and Designs of Swimming Pools

Leisure and fun – the usual intention for having a swimming pool is for fun and leisure of the family or friends. A pool in the backyard is a great way to spend the summer with your family.

You may throw in inflatable toys for your kids to play with. If this is your purpose for getting a swimming pool, an affordable and less sophisticated swimming pool design will be enough.

For Party and Entertainment Purposes – do you love to host parties and events? If so, then a pool is one of the ways to entertain guests. Landscaping around the pool area is a must.

A gazebo, patio and an outdoor bar will add more flare to the design. If money is not a problem and you want to make your pool more luxurious, you should go for an in ground swimming pool or above ground pool. Having a spa is also a good idea.

Exercise and training – if you want a pool just because you need to practice for a competition, then the main consideration is the dimension and size of the pool. Lap swimming pools need to be at least 4 ft. deep and 25 ft. long. For water aerobics, a 4 or 5 ft. deep pool will do fine.

These are just some of the many functions of swimming pools. So before you start to choose a design, make sure that you already thought about your purpose for the pool.
