Consumer Health Awareness Identifies Detox Diets For Weight Loss

Consumer Health Awareness recognizes the need for its users to be informed regarding specific detoxification diets, especially if these same diet are used for fat reduction, as failing to have the correct information could result in a body that is more susceptible to injury and disease. What is a Detox Diet?

Consumer Health Awareness understands that the express aim of many detox diets is to successfully aid in the body's removal of harmful toxins while also reducing the consumption of further toxins from food. Unfortunately, these diets, while often either well meaning, well structured, or both, often fail to deliver the results expected, and in many times are deficient in key vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that are essential to bodily health.

What Should a Detox Diet be?

True detoxification diets should be simple to follow, have no required gimmicks, and implicitly practical. Consumer Health Awareness has identified several common elements of many effective detoxification diets, and provides recommendations based on not only what has worked for modern health conscious users, but indigenous cultures throughout history.

What Foods to Avoid

This list is simple, any processed food. A food is defined as processed when it has been either bleached, preserved using chemical additives, had additional sugar added, had additional long chain fats added, or had additional chemicals added to alter its taste. While not every added chemical or ingredient is harmful, either by itself or in tandem, the presence of processed food in a diet most invariably leads to over consumption, and over consumption is the leading cause of toxin buildup in the body.

Toxin Removal and Buildup

Consumer Health Awareness asks that its members be aware of the physiological processes associated with toxin buildup and removal from the body, as failing to do so disservices any attempt at truly being healthy.

The body removes toxins in a few, significant ways, most notably the kidneys. The kidneys provide toxin removal based on a filtration process, wherein blood passes through the kidneys and excess minerals, any perceived toxins, and such are filtered out. When the kidneys are overworked, toxins can either be removed more slowly from the blood, or the kidneys begin to be less discriminating of what is filtered, resulting in disease-glycosuria, and kidney stones.

The key point to understand is that the body is very capable of handling toxins when not present in significant amounts, and when a break for detoxification is present. For instance, constantly flooding the body with an excess of calcium, that is a result of a bleached flour product's phytic acid content leaching calcium from the intestines, can easily result in a calcium blood excess. Too much calcium in the blood can quickly lead to gall or kidney stones.

What Foods Are Helpful

Avoiding any and all processed food is a difficult endeavor, and Consumer Health Awareness understands the plight of a modern citizen. Foods such as lemon juice, broccoli, and probiotics can assist in stemming the tide of of toxins which occurs when damaging, processed food is consumed, and should be eaten daily.
