Android Vs Iphone

By: Mel Joelle

There has been a lot of controversy in recent years regarding which is better, the iPhone or the Android phone. Both have their good points and bad and the better one really comes down to the not only the user but also what phone you choose; whether it is the iPhone 3G or the iPhone 4, or the HTC Inspire, Samsung Captivate or HTC Aria for Android. With all of the available possibilities, the better phone really comes down to what your own needs are, what you will be using the phone for and what kind of storage you desire, for example, internal or external memory.

While the iPhone uses the Apple Store for all apps, most of these apps must be paid for, while the same ones on the Android market are free; for example, you can download full versions of all Angry Birds games from the Android market for free, however; on the App Store through Apple, you will pay $1.99 per game. On the other hand, if you are planning on using the device more for business usage, the iPhone platform is better suited for business applications that can be transferred between your iPhone and your iPad.

While the iPhone offers better media streaming capabilities, you must download all music through iTunes. This may require you to have to pay for music downloads while the Android platform offers numerous ways to sync your music files as well as free music download apps. In addition, you can use any song or ringtone you wish on your Android device while on the iPhone, you must format your song into a ringtone format or use the standard ringtones that came with the device. All Android devices and iPhones come standard with a camera, the iPhone 4 is the only device which not only has a camera located on the back of the phone, but it also has a front facing camera as well that comes complete with Facetime, where you can actually video chat with your contacts who also have Facetime. This can be a convenient feature for those who have relatives or family far away that are not easily visited, with Facetime; it is almost like you are actually there with them.

All Android devices have an internal storage, however; they also have external memory also available in the form of a memory card. These memory cards can add up to 16 extra Gigs of storage space for media, pictures and apps. The iPhone only comes with internal storage, limiting the amount of space for apps and media. Some Android devices however; do not allow you to add apps to your memory card, only to your phone memory. In devices like the HTC Aria, you are only allowed the 512 MB that is on the internal storage for all apps, which only allows you to download a few choice apps from the Android market. The Samsung Captivate is another device that only allows you to store apps on the phone, however; this phone offers 16 Gigs of memory, plenty of space for all the apps you want. The iPhone does come with various sizes of internal memory with 8 Gig and 16 Gig sizes available, giving you plenty of space for all your files.
