Microsoft is going strong with its Windows Mobile applications. Mobile applications are so much further ahead of traditional desktop applications. Windows Mobile applications make it so easy to perform tasks that were previously cumbersome with cell phones. Windows Mobile applications make it easy to install ringtones, games and other applications that cell phone users have been using for quite some time.

Some of the best features of Windows Mobile Phones include ease of use and familiarity, flexible platform, improved security with a competitive advantage. These mobile applications are very easy to synchronize with the PC. There are many mobile applications that have synchronization options. Companies developing these applications have a quick turnaround time and are very cost effective. There are several very useful applications and most are available through the marketplace. There are more than 18,000 Windows Mobile applications.

A few free applications that are popular include Skype for Windows Mobile. It is a free software that enables Skype calls using Wi-Fi enabled Window Mobile Pocket PC also called Smart Phone. Skyfire is also a free application that allows a mobile web browsing experience similar to PC browsing. Now with a Windows Mobile Smart Phone one can watch videos, chat with friends, listen to music, shop online and browse the web. BeyondPod is an application that is an RSS feed reader and podcast manager for mobile devices. It enables one to receive feeds while away from the PC. Google Maps for mobile is another very useful Windows Mobile Application. It will determine the current location using GPS and give driving, transit or walking directions to any address or park in the GPS system. There is also a built in option for automatic updates so the maps are always current.

There are so many more applications that are free or offered at a low cost. Windows Mobile users have access to more applications than any other mobile operating system. Each individual that has different interests will find an application that is right for their specific interests whether it is games, music, productivity or ease of use and functionality. These applications include applications for entertainment or business documents and scheduling. A Windows Mobile device can also be used as an e-reader for business or pleasure.

The best Windows Mobile application package for business or students is the Office hub. This application is included with Windows Mobile 7. No downloads are required. The Microsoft Office documents are located in the Office hub on the phone. The Office applications included are Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and SharePoint Workspace Mobile. If these applications are used frequently, it would be helpful to pin these apps to the start menu. The most useful way of using Office documents from the phone would be to receive an email document or a post to SharePoint asking for feedback or comments. Once the comments are notated, it can be emailed back or saved to the SharePoint site from the phone without waiting until a PC or laptop was available.
