Whiten And Brighten Your Smile With Teeth Whitening

By: Gen Wright

If you, like many people, are self-conscious about the color of your teeth and want a change, you may want to think about getting your teeth whitened. With increases in dental technology, there are a variety of options available to fit every patient's need. All it takes is for you to make the decision to have a change in your life and very quickly you will be enjoying your new smile.

In-Office Whitening

The quickest and most effective method of teeth whitening is done in your dentist's office. In a single appointment, your dentist will be able to noticeably brighten your teeth. Your dentist will first hold back your lips to ensure that no bleach gets anywhere besides your teeth then he or she will apply the whitening gel. After this, they will shine a special light or laser onto your teeth to speed up the whitening process. When this is completed, you will be free to leave the office with a bright smile.

In-office whitening is the simplest and most effective way to ensure white teeth. Because your dentist does the whitening, there is little chance for any errors. In addition, the procedure is completed in a single appointment and is by far the quickest and most convenient option available. However, this option is also generally the most expensive.

Take Home Whitening

In many cases, dentists will offer take home whitening kits to their patients. If you choose this option, you will begin by seeing your dentist to get a mold made of your teeth. After this, your dentist will provide you with whitening trays and instructions for use at home. Generally, you will wear the trays for one hour a day for approximately two weeks to achieve the best results. As long as you follow the instructions and wear the trays for the necessary amount of time, the results should be positive. This method is usually considerably cheaper than in office whitening, but can be slightly less effective and is more time consuming.

Over The Counter Whitening

Another option that many people decide to pursue is over the counter whitening. While certainly the cheapest and most readily available option, results can vary greatly and as a whole are less successful than dentist-recommended options. Whitening toothpaste and whitening strips can gradually begin to whiten your teeth, but results are not guaranteed and will come very slowly. To ensure the best possible results, dentists recommend scheduling an appointment to go over the best options available to you.

Whether done at home or in the dentist's office, there are a few different ways for you to whiten your teeth effectively. If you want to be able to smile brightly again, it may be time to undergo a teeth-whitening procedure. Contact your Lac Cruces dentist for more information about how to whiten your teeth.
