What Can't You Do in Daytona Beach?

Daytona Beach is a place that many have heard of, if for no other reason than because of NASCAR. The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing holds Daytona USA (now the "Daytona 500 Experience" every year in no place other than Daytona Beach. Enjoy the experience of being part of a pit crew, change a tire or jack up a racecar. Get in the driver's seat in Acceleration Alley or enjoy the action in the NASCAR 3d IMAX movie. You can even take a tram ride tour around the track to the Gatorade Victory Lane.

However, the Daytona 500 Experience is just the tip of the iceberg is sunny Daytona. No matter what type of experience you're in to, no matter what you like to do, there's several "somethings" for everyone!

Ocean Walk Village
The Ocean Walk Village has a huge 5-acre water park of the Caribbean theme variety. Twelve water slides, miniature golf, an arcade and a wave pool are just the beginning of fun and entertainment.

Many enjoy the upscale shops in Ocean Walk Village, such as the stadium seating movie theatre and the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. There's the Mai Tai Bar, the Cold Stone Creamery, the Daytona Beach Harley Davidson Apparel Shop and Johnny Rockets, where you can enjoy a 50's style malt and hamburger.

If you're in to music, you can't leave out the Bandshell, published in 1946 as "the world's largest band shell by the sea at Daytona Beach". Made entirely of coquina rock, the Bandshell is the place for free concerts on the sand and under the stars; Latin music, country music, blue grass, jazz and more are all there for your enjoyment.

Last but not least, there's the Boardwalk and Beach. Off-limits to cars, walk the surf or the boardwalk and enjoy a plethora of entertaining places. Play skeet-ball, explore little junk shops for coquina shell souvenirs, fish off the pier and enjoy the history of this fascinating, "old-time" place.

The Haunts of Daytona
Everybody who finds the Haunts of Daytona loves the tour, and many are surprised it's not advertised more. Listen to stories about ghost sightings for an actual certified ghost hunter, who shares the culture and history of Daytona in a great, unusual way. Factual documented hauntings, spooky experiences and a great guide all go into a fascinating experience you'll never forget!

Marine Science Center
Perfect for the eco-tourist, the Marine Science Center is also just a fun and educational place to visit. A dune habitat shows a sea turtle nest and a 5,000-gallon aquarium holds a variety of local fish and invertebrates. You can measure your height compared to a full-size manatee or a giant leatherback sea turtle.

Bird enclosures in the rehabilitation sanctuary give you great views of the different species and the bird observation tower gives you a place to search for bald eagles, pelicans, herons, egrets, ospreys and more in their natural habitat – the sky. In the Turtle Terrace, you can see injured sea turtles being cared for until they can be released back into the wild, and a beautiful nature trail shows you the Ponce Inlet's natural flora and fauna.

Before you leave, you can stop at the Marine Science Center Gift Shop to grab some great souvenirs, from jewelry and t-shirts to books, garden treasures and educational items. If you love animals, nature and exotic experiences, you'll love the Marine Science Center.

Along with the Daytona 500 Experience, the Marine Science Center, the Ocean Walk Village and the Daytona Haunts, you'll find a plethora of experiences and entertainment waiting to happen. View the beaches from a helicopter ride, take a night at the Giggles Comedy Club and laugh with nationally touring comedians or enjoy a few rounds of golf at a number of golf parks. Browse the Daytona Flea and Farmer's Market, where almost anything is for sale and drop in at Sun Splash Park, Daytona Lagoon Water Park and many others for some serious fun in the sun and water.

Half the fun of Daytona Beach is just being there in the first place, but the other half includes more nightlife, wildlife, clubs, historical districts, golf parks, water parks, stores and shops than one person can enjoy in a lifetime!
