What Are Trends in Internet Marketing?

By: Lina Stakauskaite

Here's a clue to what you can expect in Internet marketing for the next 6 to 12 months: Last year, there were 1.2 billion people with active subscriptions for mobile broadband and estimated 5.9 billion mobile phone subscriptions. This means that eventually, the 5.9 billion will be upgrading their phones and subscription plans to include Internet access. Considering that the official world population as of July 2012 was a little over 7 billion, it's not difficult to conclude that mobile Internet is becoming next big thing marketing trend.

Digital marketing has to go mobile or it'll miss the boat by such a huge margin. Every day that passes, there is something new and exciting online and mobile from apps to news, current events, games, and websites which makes encourages and addicting habit of keeping one's mobile phone close at hand at all times including places like the bathroom, car, near risky places such as swimming pools, lakes, beaches, and even waterfalls.

The latest stats on mobile Internet according to a survey done by digital buzz are that by next year, 2013, mobile Internet users will be neck and neck with PC Internet users and by 2015, far beyond PC Internet users.

Marketing online means reaching your market accurately and the only way this can possibly happen in the future is if you follow them though their mobile devices.

How To Follow is the next big question because obviously you can be using the same tactics as in traditional media. Here are the future trends in mobile Internet marketing content:

Use Video

You have to start using videos a lot in you marketing content because "a picture says a thousand words" and most consumers are rushing here and there that you literally only have a few seconds to grab their attention.

Use Online Coupons

A discount or a freebie has more chances of making a consumer stop cold in his or her tracks than a video, email, or online ad. It's really the sign of the times and even if the economy improves, consumers will still love free stuff! It's the kind of marketing that's positive and promotes a feel-good perception of a product or service.

Use Social Media

Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, or any other social media site with a strong following will stay in trend. The simple reason is that people need to connect with others and with prices for fuel and transportation soaring, the best way to keep in touch is through mobile devices. If you could tap into this social network sites, it's like being invited to plum events 24/7.

So there it is in a nutshell what you can expect in the coming months ahead.
