The North Fork Mountain Inn located in Smoke Hole, West Virginia provides many of the luxuries of an expensive, big city hotel in a beautiful, serene setting in the wilderness of West Virginia. The current owners, Ed and Carol Fischer have been operating the inn since 2006.
The inn offers rooms, suites and a cabin to suit different preferences of its guests. All the rooms have a private bath. Bathrobes and hair dryers are available in each bath. Guests traveling with a pet may reserve the cabin. All meals at the inn are prepared by an award winning chef and include a gourmet breakfast, a gourmet picnic lunch and casual dining Sunday through Friday evenings. The North Fork Mountain Inn offers a number of packages to their guests visiting at different times of the year. The mid-week special provides a 10% discount on the room rate to guests who stay at least three nights between Sunday and Thursday, but it is not available between July and October. The Valentines weekend package allows guests who stay two nights to get the third night for half price and includes a special Valentines dinner with wine and a five-course gourmet dinner. The bird watching weekend package includes guided bird walks, a lecture by bird expert Dr. Gary Rankin, picnic lunches, fine dining on Saturday evening and a birdhouse for the guests to take home. There are also several other packages available.
The inn offers wedding, elopement, vow renewal and anniversary packages for interested guests that include the ceremony, a minister, banquets, receptions, flowers, photography and a videographer among other special services.
Businesses can take advantage of the inn as a corporate retreat. Smoke Hole is a peaceful place to get away from all the daily stress of an office and improve employee teamwork skills or provide training if desired. A conference room with equipment needed to hold meetings and place conference calls is available upon request.
Activities around the Smoke Hole area for interested guests include hiking, horseback riding, canoeing, scuba diving and rock climbing among other activities. Places of interest include Smoke Hole Caverns, historic and civil war sites, Harperâ€™s Old Country Store and Cass Scenic Railroad.
The inn guest policy usually requires people to stay two nights minimum on weekends and three nights minimum on holiday weekends, but a shorter stay could be available if one calls or emails ahead of time. Reservations to secure rooms are a deposit equal to a one-night stay in the preferred room. The inn accepts personal checks within five days of the day the reservation is made or credit cards.
