Weight Loss Post Delivery?

Women often feel distressed due to weight gain during pregnancy period. Nine months of pregnancy will definitely make them gain weight due to the hormonal changes, increase in estrogen, iron and calcium supplements taken for the fetusís growth and the food rich on vitamins, minerals, protein and calcium will make you gain weight.

Even post delivery, a mother has to take nutritious food and consume lot of milk which is essential for her to regain the lost energy during delivery and also helps to feed the baby. Your child needs to be fed with breast milk as it contains a lot of nutrition in it. Skipping meals and rigorous exercise will help you lose a lot of pounds but will make your bone brittle. And it deprives your breast feeding child of the essential nutrients. Skipping meals will also release higher levels of toxins in your breast milk.

Instead of rigorous exercise, you can work towards a gradual weight loss, eat when you're hungry, and just ensure that you get enough fluids. It's the best way of losing weight easily and safely. This also doesnít deprive your child of the essential nutrients. There is also several advantages of breast feeding. It helps the uterus contraction, it stops excessive bleeding post delivery, it develops an attachment between the mother and the child and some moms lose weight while nursing. Do not stop nursing just because you want to lose weight. Weight loss can also be gained through breast feeding.

You can start your exercise only after 3 months of delivery. You need adequate rest post delivery and do not start exercising before 2 months of your delivery. Your bones are weak and there is an expansion of the muscles in order to prepare your body for delivery. Be careful, wait for some time and consult your doctor on this. Do not start of anything without consulting your gynecologist.

Just remember that it takes 9 months to put the weight on, and it can take that long for it to come off. Stay on a better diet high in fiber, lean protein, leafy greens & fruits. Even celebrity moms make use of a combination of breastfeeding, healthy eating and regular exercise that is helping these stars get back in top shape in a matter of weeks. Diets are designed to achieve quick results, but leave little flexibility for new moms on the go.
