Watching Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives Evolve

By: Evelyn Skymore

Guy Fieri has probably one of the best jobs in the world. And now if you have your own favorite list of drive ins, diners, and dives you can let Guy know about your favorite eating establishment. You get to contribute to the Food Network hit show by going out and finding your own favorite places to eat and giving Guy a head's up.
Naturally, Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives would be quite the same without the very large personality the Guy Fieri truly is. While he drives around in bright red 1968 Camero, often with his sunglasses hanging off the back of his rather than protecting his eyes, his flamboyant nature isn't disrespectful. He is simply a character, and being a character has brought him into the limelight and into our living rooms.
The growth in popularity of the show hasn't changed Guy's mission. Just as it was in the beginning, Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives is aimed at hunting down those diamond in the rough establishments that serve the best food.
Guy Fieri is not just a TV host. He has proven himself as a high quality and capable chef. His big win on The Next Food Network Star was the most public evidence of this, but Guy's culinary love goes way back to his childhood. Even when he was selling pretzels from his bike, he was giving an honest critique of the pretzel quality.
The show Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives is fantastically successful and is making American icons out of the drive ins, dives, and diners that are featured on the show. The fifteen minutes of fame that these restaurants receive turn them into local heroic buildings.
Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives is usually done in sets of three. You get three states, three towns, and three restaurants per episode. In most episodes you can find Guy in the kitchen bringing the action to you straight from the heart of the restaurant. While he also gets the first taste, you can count on him to be honest about the food quality.
At the same time you learn a little bit about the history of the area, what makes the locale special, and even a little something about the people who visit the establishment on a regular basis. Guy Fieri diners are fast becoming fan favorites throughout the country, and because of the show patrons feel quite comfortable choosing their next meal out.
Even if you travel a little in search of the perfect place to recommend, you now have a hobby that benefits everyone involved. If you can convince Guy Fieri to add your stop on his Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives show, you can help turn your favorite bite to eat into one of those sweet local and American icons. What could be better than that?
