U.S. Depression Spreads to the Countryside

By: Robert Thomson

The Associated Press publishes a pretty map of the U.S. which represents the data in their Economic Stress Index.

The Economic Stress Index represents how hard the depression is hitting each American county, in terms of unemployment, foreclosure, and bankruptcy.

Until recently, the middle portions of America were relevatively insulated from the countries economic woes. Decreased demand for energy (primarily coal and natural gas) and food has brought the economic morass even to these rural counties.

This economic slide is an inevitable result of losing the congress and the presidency to the Democrats. Businesses are not investing and consumers are not buying. This loss of demand leads to lower prices, which leads to unemployment, foreclosure, and bankruptcy. This is the change we voted for.
