Tips on How to Plan a Successful Kidís Party

By: Richard Curtain

For some people, planning a kidís party is like a fun and exciting process. For others, itís a totally new undertaking that can be difficult if not given careful thought and enough time. If you feel like planning a party is an effort and a challenging task, you need to follow a few tips and recommendations to make everything less burdensome. If planned well, youíll enjoy the process and the party even more. So, here are some tips you might want to consider.

Invites, Venue and Date

You need at least 2 months to prepare for the party, and send out invitations a month before. And of course, before you can send invitations, you need to book the venue and set the date and time. It will save you money if you have the party at home where there is enough space for a party. If you have a garden or backyard, it can be a good enough venue for your party. Just spice is up with decorations and music. Make a rough head count of how many guests you will be inviting so you can prepare the sufficient food, tables, chairs, and party favors. Include RSVP contact details to get confirmation on the number of guests.

Make a Checklist

Nobody can pull of a successful party without a checklist. Even the best party organizers and events specialists work well with checklists. Eventually, youíll miss out on the little things and forget about some party supplies or items for the party. A checklist is like your key to tracking the things you need to get done. From caterers, decorations to games, music, and party favors, you need to list them down so you can plan and prepare them properly. It will be easy to see what you have and havenít yet accomplished. Put the priority items first on the list and make timelines or set deadlines as well.

Theme and Feasibility

Kids like cartoons, colors, and playtime. They also like to play different characters they like and play pretend. It is important to choose a theme that your kid can relate to or is interested in. Spongebob, Ben10, Adventure Time, Futurama, Simpsons, Star Wars, Barney, Disney Princess, and Barbie are just some of the popular themes used in many kidís party but itís up to you to choose based on the childís interest.

When choosing a theme, also consider if you can easily pull off that kind of theme. Will it be easy to find decoration, party supplies, favors, and prizes that will follow that theme? Will it be easy to find costumes for your kid and the other kids you are inviting? If you are pressed for time, it will help you to pick easy themes that will still be fun and enjoyable for your kid and the guests.

Food Choices

Kids like simple food like pizza, French fries, burger, cookies, candies, hotdog, marshmallows, nachos, chips, and pasta. If you have the time, cooking skills, and the resources to prep food for many guests, you can consider not hiring a caterer to save more money but to make it easier for you during the big day, hire a caterer and go for gourmet food to make things more special. You can mingle with relatives and friends and not worry if the food is being served properly. Consider using disposable plates, cups, and utensils to keep the cleaning after part less difficult for you.

You can also consider serving different food for adults if you have the extra budget for it. Donít forget the special cake that should follow the theme as well.

Whether big or small, a party can be fun and memorable. You just have to plan it well and know where to find good party supplies in town.
