Corrado Santini and his participation at "Infrastructures and policies for the South" conference

Corrado Santini, representing the fund F2i, participated at "Infrastructures and policies for the South" conference, organized by Mezzogiorno Europa foundation in the city of Naples. During the conference He showed an overview of the areas of waste, water and renewable energy, exposing the potential future investments. As for the waste sector, Italy is far behind the European regulations that consist of landfills abandonment in favor of a separated collection intended for recycle. In Italy the average municipal waste going to landfills is equal to 49%, whereas in other countries is 37%. The water area has also some serious problems, due particularly to the presence of old facilities (with an average of about 30 years of activity) and poor coverage of services letting only 85% of the population to take advantage of sewerage services and 70% of purification services. Same goes for Waste to Energy which is very backward and is expected to invest about 15 billions euro by 2020 to reach the levels of Germany. Only the photovoltaic industry is a source of pride for our country: Italy is at second place in Europe for installed capacity.
