The History of Roulette

Roulette has become one of the most popular gambling games in the world. It is believed that the French have introduced the game of 888 roulette way back in the 17th century.

The game of Roulette is actually the gambling game based on a small wheel. The game of roulette became one of the most popular games played during the 18th century because of its popularity with Prince Charles of Monaco. This Prince introduced the game to his kingdom in hopes that it would create a relief to the kingdomís economic distress. Roulette gained immense popularity in the United States only in the mid-1800ís during the Gold Rush in California. The most commonly played Roulette games are the American Roulette and the European Roulette. Although the games are similar in nature, they differ in their rules and payouts. One major different between the two kinds of Roulette games is the color of the chips. In the European Roulette game, the dealer uses a stick to swipe away chips whereas in case of the American Roulette wheel, the hands are being used for the same purpose.

Some historians believe that the game of 888 roulette was introduced first of all in China and was brought to Europe by Monks who traded with the Chinese merchants. Whatever be the origin of roulette, it has been discovered that the game has been successful in winning the hearts of the millions and millions of casino lovers.
