If you consider the saying “Laughter is the best medicine” is only that - adage, you can you better think again. Seriously, it provides several health benefits to our body. It might seem this is a joke and laugh your heart out, but you need to start believing. Read on.

1. Laughter improves the the circulation of blood in your veins. It also works to enhance the flow of oxygen to your brain, heart and other organs. It also contributes in the lowering of the blood pressure. In the process, you are lessening your risk to heart problems, heart attacks and other health issues.

2. There will be an oral and written exam or job interview tomorrow. Try to meet your buddies today and clown around. Afterwards, go back home and begin your review. You will see that you are more attentive and that you can easily memorize your notes. Things will have been different if you feel stressed out with the upcoming exam (or job interview) and you still make an effort to study.

3. Laughter takes away stress as it lowers the amount of stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol in your body and at the same time increase endorphins, which boost your mood and relieve you from pain.

4. With laughter, you start to look for a different light to your unlucky situation. This is because it brings out more positive emotions and eradicates negativity as a result of anxiety and fear.

5. By chuckling every single day, you are minimizing your risk to colds and you are building defense against respiratory infections.

6. Laughing also offers significant contributions to your defense mechanisms because it increases the quantity of immune cells and antibodies that work to fight against infections thereby making it possible to become more resistant to illness.

7. You're feeling very tired from work but your friends insist that you get together with them after office. At first, you are so quiet because of fatigue. But with your buddies throwing jokes one after the other, you can’t help but laugh out loud. Suddenly you feel revived. The physical tension is gone (or at least improved).

8. You are having a good laugh; now, it's time to pay attention to your body. Every time your funny friend cracks joke, you go out of breath, your heart rate is raising and you feel pain in your abdominal muscle. It does feel like you are working out in a gym, right? There is nothing to be surprised of because laughter is an excellent exercise. Truth is that laughing for 10 to 15 minutes lets you get rid of 50 calories.

10. A significant laugh each day makes it possible to sleep better every evening. You feel more relaxed as you lay your back in the bed.
