Styles Of Garden Fences

By: Peter Bartholomew

Garden fencing has the ability to add decorative features to your property, privacy, and security. There are lots of different options available, depending on your budget and priorities. Let's take a quick look at the possiblities to help you choose the kind of fence you'd like to install on your property. There are so many different types of garden fencing available on the market that you're sure to find the one that'll work for you.
Fences of a traditional nature are more often than not made from wood and prove to be relatively inexpensive. They come in the "picket" style or in ready constructed paneling. This kind of fence stops people from looking into your property. However, on the downside, wooden fences block out the light and need a certain amount of maintenance which may not appeal to all homeowners.
Another option is the truly classic look of the wrought iron fence which comes in many decorative forms. Fences like these often add value to your property but not without incurring the initial expense of buying and installation. Although wrought iron fences do not require a huge amount of maintenance, they do need keeping in good condition to ensure that rusting does not occur.
Bamboo and willow fences are great choices and are used mainly for decoration. These are assembled by putting up fence posts then placing bamboo or willow in between each post. Of course due to the less solid nature of these materials the fence has to be built as firmly as possible. Intruders will not be kept out by this type of fence and repairs will need to be carried out as and when necessary.
If a practical fence is what you are looking for then aluminum works well and is a popular choice for those wanting the appearance of wrought iron without the expense. Fences made of aluminum require only the minimum of maintenance as oxidization of this material occurs much less than in the case of wrought iron fences. Nonetheless, it should be noted that aluminum bends easily so may need adjusting or replacing from time to time.
