Senior Nutrition - Underfunded Retirement Community Programs Undermine Your Folks Health

They are not in these positions as a result of of their credentials or nutritional wisdom: nevertheless they're charged with the responsibility of keeping your oldsters healthy. Frightening. Extremely frightening.
Some Chefs and Dietary Administrators do have nice resumes, and the necessary expertise: but rarely are they in complete management of the dietary programming: there's usually a bean counter driving the necessary decision making: like how a lot of cash per resident really goes toward resident meals.
Keep in mind, that yearly, there are market fluctuations; value increases that are unexpected; last year it had been dairy that shot up 14% unpredictably: never suppose that the corporation absorbs these will increase, and just changes their budgeting mid-year. Your parent is stuck with what the budget year money can buy; irrespective of what happens in the marketplace. There are years when meat costs climbed, fish prices doubled: and therefore the smaller the bucks per resident meal, the lower the quality of product that your parent can truly receive.
Do your homework when you tour communities: raise about specifics: here are some key queries to raise:

Explore different smaller communities with a bigger nutritional focus: bear in mind, you're what you eat. And for a senior, what they eat, or can't have access to eating, might kill them.
