Roulette Bets And Betting Explained

By: simonowens

Betting in roulette is fairly simple. You just need to spend a couple of minutes understanding the layout of the roulette table and you will know how to place your bets. When you visit a casino you first need to exchange your cash for roulette chips. Don’t worry – your roulette chips will be different in color from the roulette chips of the other players at the table. This way you will not miss your chips and there will be no confusion. You can place your bets till the time the dealer announces “no more bets”. Refrain from touching your chips from now on. This is illegal and you will be thrown out of the casino if you do so. If you are new to the game of live roulette then outside bets are what you should concentrate on.

The outside bets have a lower payout percentage but they are also safer. The outside bets are given below. Red bet – Bet on the red numbers on the table. Payout is 1 to 1. Black bet – Bet on the black numbers on the table. Payout is 1 to 1. High bet – Bet on any of the numbers 19 to 36 on the table. Payout is 1 to 1. Low bet – Bet on any of the numbers 1 to 18 on the table. Payout is 1 to 1. Even bet¬ – Bet on the even numbers on the table. Payout is 1 to 1. Odd bet – Bet on the odd numbers on the table. Payout is 1 to 1. Dozen bet – Bet on the three dozen numbers on the table, 1 to 12, 13 to 24 or 25 to 36. Payout is 2 to 1. Column bet – Bet on the three columns of numbers on the table that are split length-wise for the purpose of this bet. Payout is 2 to 1. The inside bets are given below. Straight bet – Bet on one of the numbers on the table. Payout is highest at 35 to 1. Split bet – Bet on two adjoining numbers on the table, horizontal or vertical. Payout is 17 to 1. Street bet – Bet on three horizontal sequential numbers on the table. Payout is 11 to 1. Corner bet – Bet on four numbers that form a square anywhere on the table. Payout is 8 to 1.
