By: Cynthia Alleyne

Rose hip oil has been proven to be one of the great dry skin remedies. Rose hip oil has a high concentration of unsaturated, essential fatty acids, namely oleic, linoleic and linolenic acid. In this case the word "essential" means that our bodies cannot produce this acids and because they are vital for the health and nourishment of our skin.
Besides essential fatty acids, rose hips contain antioxidant flavonoids and vitamins C, D and E. As a matter of fact, rose hips are one of the richest plant sources of Vitamin C. This composition makes it ideal for every kind of skin care product.
Rose hip oil comes from the red, berry-like fruits (hips) of a wild rose that grows in the Americas. This wild plant is known as rosa mosqueta in Chile and has been a staple food in the diets of the indigenous tribes.
Scientific research has corroborated the healing properties that have been associated to rose hip oil for years.
Rose Hip Oil and Scar Treatment
Rose hip oil has been used on all types of scar tissue. It restores the normal color of skin and helps avoid the formation of hypertrophic scars. Some testimonials have even claimed that stretch marks will shrink when treated with rose hip oil.
Scars can become softer and less noticeable. If you are about to have surgery, it is advisable to use rose hip oil two to four weeks prior to surgery to help minimize the appearance of post-op scarring.
Rose Hip Oil and Moisturized Skin
Due to its essential fatty acids and vitamin rich composition, rose hip oil is superb for natural dry skin care. Its ultra light texture allows its quick absorption without greasy residue unlike so many dry skin care products. All of these factors make this natural product the best treatment for dry skin.
Rose hip oil is a gentle ingredient and is great for eczema and dry skin treatment.
A depressed metabolic rate in all tissues including the skin helps promote premature aging. In this case, rose hip oil helps detain the decrease in the skin's metabolic functions. It increases irrigation to the skin and generates the renewal of skin cells.
Consequently, it helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles produced by the aging process and it helps minimize the dark spots present in sun damaged skin. It is also excellent for preventing photo aging, not only treating it.
Applying Rose Hip Oil
Take a few drops of the oil and massage it into the affected area until it is completely absorbed. It is advisable to apply rose hip oil only during the night time because it can cause hyperpigmentation. If you choose to apply during the day, remember to use sunblock.
By using rose hip oil twice a day for approximately 3 months, you can reduce scar tissue, help to prevent and reduce stretch marks and diminish wrinkles and age spots.
