Ready-to-eat chapatis have already been introduced in leading supermarkets and stores across Oman, offering Omanis and expatriates a perfect accompaniment with their favourite curried and non-curried dishes.

Made of whole wheat grain the chapatis are manufactured with minimum oil and no added preservatives, colour or flavour. Besides the use of fresh ingredients, the consumer is additionally guaranteed a quality product with the shelf life of the chapatis being a maximum of two days. The chapatis are produced in an automated process starting from the dough ball cutting right through to the baking and puffing. The entire production and packing process takes place in a clean environment and under strict quality supervision.

The brand is essentially a local Omani product whose production and distribution will be handled by ISO-certified Al Naba Supplies and Catering Services LLC. “Our ready-to-eat chapatis will be a ground-breaking product that comes with the Al Naba guarantee of freshness, quality and taste. As an ISO 9001:2008 certified company, our production processes will conform to internationally recognized standards, which will be surpassed later this year when we obtain HACCP certification,” said Sulaiman al Shakeli, Board Member of Al Naba Holding.

Chapatis are a staple for expatriate Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities, as well as growing numbers of Omanis. Made from whole grain wheat, the soft disc-like bread is coveted for its high-fibre content and healthful properties. Recognising the ever growing popularity of chapatis at meal times, Al Naba took the decision to introduce chapatis on a commercial scale.

Prudent product pricing and extensive market coverage will be critical to its consumer success, says Amreesh Singh, Manager at Al Naba Catering. “In keeping with the mass appeal of this flatbread, our ready-to-eat products are competitively priced for a pack of five chapatis. Al Naba’s extensive logistics services arm will also ensure prompt and wide coverage of supermarkets and store.”
“Al Naba’s trading wing has started delivery of chapatis in mass scale to leading catering and construction companies in Oman. More than 3 million chapatis are produced in a day with our equipment at various sites,” added Selvaraj, Manager – Al Naba Equipment and Supplies LLC.

With the launch of Al Naba ready-to-eat chapatis, the Group is set to mark its maiden foray into food processing services. The company will also launch the brand, in the UAE market towards the year end. Ranked among the largest business houses in the Sultanate, the Group oversees four well-established subsidiary firms: Al Naba Services LLC, Al Naba Supplies and Catering Services LLC, Al Naba Equipment & Supplies LLC, and Al Naba Construction LLC. Of late, the Group has also expanded its operations into the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
