Taking preventive measures can keep scum from building, which keeps the glass door clean for longer.

You can use a combination of commercial cleaning products and home remedies to keep scum off your door for good. There are a number of methods you can use, and here are a few of the more common ones.

Make a paste using baking powder and water. Ensure that you don't dilute the mixture too much. Use the paste to scrub the door of any scum. Rub as gently as possible to avoid scratch marks on the glass. After scrubbing, rinse completely using distilled white vinegar to make sure that all of the scum and paste are removed.

In a bucket of warm water, dissolve a handful of dishwasher detergent. After you've had a shower, apply the mixture on the glass doors and allow it to be completely covered. Alternatively, you can just rinse the door with water, before applying the mixture. Let it soak for around fifteen minutes and scrub the door with a stiff brush and rinse with water, Repeat this process as many times as required.

Apply a paste of powdered laundry detergent and water on the door and allow it to soak for a few minutes. You can also use a laundry stain remover spray. After allowing it to sit, use an acrylic scrubbing pad and scrub in small circular motions. Rinse completely with water to remove the scum and paste.

Apart from these home remedies, you can use professional scum removers as well. Allow it to sit on the door, and scrub using an acrylic or nylon pad. Rinse with warm water to clean your door. If you have heavy buildup of scum, wash the door with a mixture of half cup ammonia and a gallon of water. Rinse with warm water to remove any residue. Remember to use protective gloves as ammonia can be abrasive on the skin.

If you want to remove scum from your door for a very long time, you could consider waxing it with car wash.
