Thomas Gainsborough (May 1727 - August 1788, England) was one of the most well-known portrait and landscape painters of 18th century Britain. He highlight in the painting from a very early age. For this reason, his father sends him to London to study art. Here, he was influenced by Francis Hayman and contributed to the decoration of what is now the Thomas Coram Foundation for Children and the supper boxes at Vauxhall Gardens.

Gainsborough painted more from his observations of nature than from any application of formal academic rules. His other subjects were portraits. Among his most famous Paintings are: Mr and Mrs Andrews (1748-49), The Blue Boy (1770), Mr and Mrs William Hallett (1785), Mrs Thomas Hibbert, The Watering place and Gainsborough’s forest.
