Obama Announces Grants to Pay off Outstanding Debt in 2009 Make Sure You Get Yours

By: Lindsy Emery

The Economy has not been the best in last 12 months with many corporate giants having already filed for bankruptcy or on the verge of doing it. The increasing debt on individuals has resulted in increased bad assets of many banks. This vicious cycle has reduced liquidity and the purchasing power of individuals and to some extent has been fueling this economic crisis.

Obama's grant aimed at debt relief has been seen as a very positive move to help revive the economic landscape of the country. A country which thrives on plastics and credits with lack of understanding of the overall credit cycle, millions are under debt.

Analysts speculate that this decision could have long terms effects on the economy of the country and can drive a behavior of responsibility towards use of credits in United States of America. There is also an existing fear of people misusing this grant towards unwanted needs. Hence the process to apply for the grant would entail procedures where one has to prove the need to have those.

The process of applying for a grant is unlike applying for a loan as these grants are not meant to be paid back to the government. These are one time grants to help individuals start afresh, help them get rid of their debts, provide capital to start a new business and eventually become responsible tax payers of the nation so that the money could be used to help the others in need.
