Natural Stretch Mark Treatments

By: Gabriell Rygh

Stretch marks are an unfortunate fact of life. Even if you have never been pregnant or have gained a large amount of weight in a short period, chances are that growth spurts in your adolescence have led to stretch marks. Since stretch marks are common among the population in general, there are a great deal of treatments for them.
We will take a look at several home remedies that have been used throughout the ages to reduce the appearance of stretch marks. Keep in mind two things: a cream or lotion cannot eliminate stretch marks and natural treatments take longer to produce results than commercial products.
Most natural treatments have been in use for many centuries. And even though they differ slightly, they have one thing in common: they depend on exfoliation and moisturizing to produce the desired effects. The exfoliating ingredient can be used separately and before applying the natural cream or it can be incorporated into it.
This article will take a look at some scar lotions.
Home remedies are the most inexpensive way to eliminate or reduce the appearance of stretch marks. Natural oils and gels, like rose hip oil, lavender oil, flaxseed oil, olive oil or cod liver oil and aloe vera gel, can be massaged directly on the affected area to reduce the appearance of stretch marks. These natural ingredients can also be mixed with others to produce more elaborate homemade lotions.
Home Remedies to Consider
For example, mix:
*1/2 cup olive oil
*1/4 cup aloe vera gel
*4 capsules Vitamin E (remove liquid and discard casing)
*2 capsules Vitamin A liquid
And store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Every day you can apply this natural lotion to your skin. Exfoliate before using this natural lotion.
Another option is the following natural balm. Natural exfoliants, like ground coffee beans or oatmeal, can also be added.
*1/2 cup cocoa butter
*1 Tablespoon wheat germ oil
*1 Teaspoon apricot kernel oil
*1 Teaspoon Vitamin E oil
*2 Teaspoon grated beeswax
You will need to heat this mixture until the beeswax is barely melted. Then, place in an airtight container and store in your refrigerator. Apply this product on the affected area until you achieve the desired results.
Each one of these alternatives is a valid choice depending on your budget and extent of your stretch marks. You will have to be patient, though; most of these treatments will take from 3 to 5 months to show positive results.
