Mature and Sensitive Skin Care: How to take care of your Skin Type

By: Sara Kitch

Beyond a shadow of a doubt, sensitive and mature skin is the most difficult skin type to treat. Each one of them requires a specialized treatment in order to keep skin healthy and strong. Let's see what you can do.
Mature Skin Care - What it's about
If you're currently 35 years old and older, then consider yourself to have mature skin. But before you get too confused, mature skin isn't really a type of skin, it's merely the age of the skin.
It is possible for you to have sensitive, mature skin or oily, mature skin. Even so, one of the main considerations for mature skin is the use of anti aging products.
As you age, your skin will become weaker and thinner. Fine lines and age spots begin to appear. To keep you mature skin looking younger you should:
*use products with Retinoic Acid or Vitamin A. This ingredient will not only give your skin a smoother looking surface, but it will also help control possible acne breakouts.
*exfoliate once or twice a week. Exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells that can clog pores and make your skin look dull. Before you're forty you should be exfoliating twice a week or more if you have oily skin.
*moisturize every day. If you aren't currently moisturizing regularly, you may want to do so. A good moisturizing lotion will help lock moisture in and protect your skin from external factors.
Sensitive Skin Care - the right way to take care of your skin
Using the appropriate sensitive skin care regimen is vital to keep this skin type healthy. This regimen should take into consideration the fact that sensitive skin has small pores and a very low lipid content.
This is why sensitive skin is so delicate and fragile. Sensitive skin is easily irritated by most skin care products so it's a good idea to stay away from:
*products that have alcohol as one of their ingredients. Alcohol is known for drying out even the toughest skin types. So, when shopping around make sure you look at the ingredients. If Alcohol is one of the first 5, it may not be a good option for your skin.
*products that contain fragrances. Sure, a fragrance will make a lotion smell nice, but it can also irritate sensitive skin. Fragrances and other fillers are unnecessary additions to skin care products.
Since sensitive skin can have an allergic reaction to most traditional skin products, you might want to try a natural skin care. These types of products usually contain very little to no synthetic products. For this reason, they can be used with all types of skin not just sensitive skin.
