Named after "Kali" the goddess of destruction, the Kaligandaki is said to be one of Nepal's most holy rivers. Beginning its journey high on the Tibetan Plateau in Mustang, the "Mighty Kali" plunges down through the Himalayas, carving into one of the deepest gorges in the world between Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. With exciting white water rapids, spectacular mountain views, traditional villages, endless suspension bridges, waterfalls, jungle corridor rich in wildlife, deep gorges, cultural temples and beautiful white sandy beaches for camp, we consider this to be the best all round river adventure in Nepal. Whitewater wilderness Expedition,The Kali begins its journey high on the Tibetan plateau in the kingdom of Mustang. Using the Deepest gorge in the world that is formed between the Mt. Annapurna (8346m) Massif and Mt. Dhaulagiri (8046m) and named after the ferocious goddess kali, the kali the Gandaki is one of Nepal's very best rivers for whitewater Adventure rafting. The Rapid run thick and fast form day one just below the put-in point at near Beni.For most of the three day expedition there is little relent .Mostly Grade III rapid-but sometimes really exhilarating grade Iv and Grade IV+-the kali gandaki caries us cavorting on though steep-walled gorges, under cascading waterfalls... to day 3,the last morning.. a grand finale of spectacular, photogenic ,big-time whitewater and far more than just the river ,the rewards in clued stunning upstream view of the Mt.annapurna range, peaceful beach camps on the river bank and the remote villages of at least five of Nepal's main Ethic Group. The Kali Gandaki, west Nepal's Himalayan river is a terrific medium length river journey, combining great whitewater with some of the prettiest scenery in Nepal. Both experienced and novice rafters will love it. The village terraces cling precariously to the slopes and surreal snowcapped peaks hang suspended above us as we drift through the world's deepest gorge. Being one of the holiest rivers in Nepal every river junction of the Kali Gandaki is dotted with cremation sites and above ground burial mounds. The beautiful scenery on this remote river makes Kali Gandaki rafting/kayakingi trip a favorite among those looking for a short to medium length trip. The Kali Gandaki passes through narrow gorges, alongside tumbling waterfalls and jungle, traditional Magar and Chetri villages, whose inhabitants often venture down to the riverside to meet the rafters with traditional 'Namaste!'. There are superb opportunities to see the Annapurna Mountain range and a variety of wildlife and temples on River banks. Nepal is one of the best country for White water rafting adventure. Kaligandaki River is one of the beautiful river for rafting in Annapurna region which can be combined with Trek in the Annapurna region. Rafting in Kaligandaki river starts with 3 - 4 hours drive and a short walk to the put in point. We camp in the river bank for 2 nights and raft in the adventurous rapid. Drive back to Pokhara again ends the rafting trip.

Newbridge, (Kusma) the put in point for rafting on Kali Gandaki river is just 3 hours from Pokhara and is reached by private transport provided by WhiteWater Nepal. Those departing from Kathmandu leave the morning before the trip, arriving in Pokhara mid afternoon. There is an orientation meeting early the same evening, providing you with an opportunity to ask any further questions you may have, to meet your fellow rafters, your guide and team. Overnight accommodation in Pokhara can be arranged on request. The 55km of Kali Gandaki river action takes 3 days. The return trip from the 'Dam' take out point of Kali Gandaki river trip to Pokhara is about four and half hour drive.
