It's Not Always What You Do

There are many things about your gum care routine that may be placing you at an increased risk of developing periodontal disease, but there may be things you`re NOT implementing that are just as vital. For instance, do you use mouthwash on a regular basis? If not, you`re putting yourself at a higher risk for developing gum disease since mouthwash combats bacteria. There are a multitude of varieties available, both commercial and herbal brands, but bear in mind that commercial brands most likely contain dyes and other artificial products that can cause irritation of delicate gum tissues.

You can also incorporate an oral irrigator which uses jets of water to clean out areas of your mouth that you may not be reaching with your toothbrush. Mouthwash, baking soda or salt added to your oral irrigator can effectively clean your mouth. Gum massagers are a great addition to any gum care routine as well since massaging your gums daily increases blood flow, in turn increasing gum oxygen supply and may reverse gum disease.
