Industrial Hygiene Risk Assessment

By: Steve Sleeper

Hi, I'm Steve Sleeper for AMI Environmental where we make environmental problems go away. I'm here with Doug Marshall who's an Industrial Hygienist with AMI Environmental. Doug, why would someone want to get an industrial hygiene risk assessment?

[Doug] As we go into any workplace there are hazards which are recognized and are common placed, and it can be rather easy to see those and recognize them. Some places are not so easily recognized and that creates a great deal of misunderstanding about what's important and what's not.

Our priority is to help weigh those risks, and help decide which things tend to be more beneficial to check out than others.

[Steve] So a lot of it's prioritizing because you're never gonna reach perfection. Is that a reasonable declaration on my part?

[Doug] Yes it is. I believe that going in and performing a qualitative Industrial Hygiene Assessment is probably the most cost effective method to bring our clientele into compliance with OSHA. And also, helping them reach the point where there're providing the safest workplace for their employees.

[Steve] So lots of it is not only protecting my investment decision as a business owner but protecting my workforce also and ensuring they're productive?

[Doug] Exactly.

[Steve] What sort of industries would be most prime for industrial hygiene risk assessments?

[Doug] Well I do believe a lot of people assume high risk industries like chemical, heavy industrial manufacturing or construction industries. Of course, those are prime for doing industrial hygiene assessments but also we work in indoor environments like banks and call centers where we consulate on indoor air quality.

Also we look at office structures and spaces because there are hazards existing which are mostly unseen. We spot problems our customers may not be able to identify on their own.

Thanks Doug. For a free consultation, call 402-397-5001 and request Doug Marshall.
