Increasing web traffic by using free methods of advertising will bring scores of visitors to your website. Not just traffic but highly targeted traffic looking to buy. If you have a product or service to sell, find prospects by using methods designed to attract them in places where they tend to hang out. Watch your website stats go from 0 unique visits to hundreds or even thousands of unique visits. There is no need to pay for link exchanges and link building services when there are so many ways to do it for free.



Step 1

Write keyword –rich articles and submit them to articles directories with a link back to your website. Keyword density fluctuates but seems to be consistently around 1.5 to 2%. That works out to approximately 3 to 4 times in the article body with keywords mentioned in the title, url and anchor links of the article. Place a link back to your site using your keyword phrase as the link text in the author bio box. Some directories allow in-body links but many do not, always check the submission guidelines before submitting your articles. The best directories for submitting articles to are EzineArticles, ArticlesBase, and GoArticles. There are many others but too long to list here.



Step 2

Sign up for forums in your niche or service industry and include a link to your website or landing page in your profile signature. Many forums allow this a long as you do not post spam or drop links. Follow the guidelines of the forum and make quality comments. Participate as a member of the forum to build trust and let others get to know you. It is easier to buy from someone you feel you can trust.



Step 3

Optimize your website and site content for better exposure from Google. Improving your sites SEO is another good way to increase your web traffic. Using metatags and keywords effectively make a world of difference in whether or not visitors can find your site.



Locate blogs related to your niche and post meaningful comments. Many blogs now ask which profile to use when commenting. You can use a Google account, Facebook account or blogger account to comment and add your signature. Social media is a very effective way to gain an audience. Create a Facebook fan page with content from your website and comment on other pages in your chosen niche. For example: You have a business that sells baby books and educational toys so you find and comment on Facebook pages associated with parenting, kids or toys. Create as many posts (with link) as possible without spamming. This process can be repeated on many other social networking sites. You can also create bookmarks of your articles on Delicious, Digg, Reddit and many others.



Using the free methods above will result in a better Google page rank and bring in many new prospective customers. The steps are simple; just repeat the steps on as many social networking sites as you can.
