How to Clean a Kitchen Sink

By: srprm

Letís face it. Keeping a kitchen sink clean may not be the most interesting job in your home but it may very well be one of the most important. Whether you have a stainless steel, copper or glass sink in your kitchen, without proper care it can become a cesspool for bacteria. Fortunately, there are a few simple things you can do to keep your kitchen sink looking its very best.

1. Scrub, scrub and scrub some more. The most important thing to keeping your kitchen sink clean is to wash and rinse it out at least daily. Every time you wash dishes or clean food you should wash your sink beforehand and afterwards with soap and water.
2. Sanitize your kitchen sink regularly. At least once a week, use a disinfectant spray to sanitize your sink. Proper sanitation will help remove bacteria and other unwanted viruses from the sink.
3. Use approved cleaning products. Depending on the material your kitchen sink is made of, you will want to use cleaning products that are approved. For stainless steel sinks a more abrasive cleaner can be used, but if your kitchen sink is a more delicate material, such as Fireclay, you will want to use a milder cleaning product.
4. Rinse your kitchen sink thoroughly. No matter what type of cleaner you use to clean your kitchen sink you will want to rinse it completely before washing dishes or rinsing your food. Harsh chemicals used to clean your sink can make you sick if they are not removed after cleaning.
