With Christmas rapidly getting closer there is always a lot to organise, especially if you are the persons responsible for office Xmas Party. These can always be such a nightmare to organise because there is commonly tight budgetary restrictions, there are many different people to give consideration to and all the best venues get booked up very early in advance. So the best tip I can give is a lot of pre-planning, but if you are looking for some tips, here are some things we think may help you out.
Choosing A venue
Now you can, of course, actually have it at your workplace itself, but although this may be cost-effective it is also a recipe for disaster. Booze and a work space simply don't mix; you will end up with everything from people copying their bare bottom to others breaking into the boss’s office. It is a situation best to be avoided. If you like to organise things then hiring a big room at an Art Gallery or conference centre is always a great idea, however it does leave you to sort out a DJ, the decorations, the food and alcohol, but can result in a very successful night.
If you wish to keep things really simple why not go out for a meal? This means you have very little to organise (except for selecting a venue!) workmates can go out afterwards if they so decide, and everyone is free to have as much (or as little) food and alcohol as they choose!
If you do decide to do it on your own and are struggling to think of ways of saving on christmas decorations, think back to the classic things you did as kids like paper snowflakes and paper chains. It is an ideal method of making lots of decorations very cheaply and for anyone who is a bit arty, you can make them look truly wonderful as well.
Once more, if you decide to go alone you are going to have to source food and alcohol. However most venues that you hire will have a bar, so there will be no panicking about alcohol running out. Additionally a good number of venues will offer food or snack options as well. A cost effective way to get people in the spirit cheaply is to make some kind of christmas punch. That way you can just thrown in all sorts of cheap licquor and people won't even be aware of what went in,. Plus if that does run out you do always have the fall back of the bar as well!
As for food, often people aren't too fussed about the catering at office parties so usually a buffet would be a good choice which means you can get something that suits everyone as well.
So, if the stress of the office Christmas do is starting to get to you, there is no need to worry. With a bit of cunning pre-planning and a few handy tips it will all get sorted before you even have the opportunity to worry about it. Instead you can spend more time panicking about the very many other things on your to-do list before Christmas.
